Drought, floods, pollution- DePue doesn't stop. This community pulled together to make sure this important annual event happened - more than once they defied the odds. That's why they are known as the "little town that could!"
Come down and see for yourself.
"We'll give you a handshake or a hug!"
Boat Race weekend is the last weekend in July.
Check out DePue Boat Races for the annual race dates and information:
A few years ago, the weather and the situation with our beautiful lake have had us worried. We pulled together as a community and did what it took to make sure that our boat races could happen.
Why? The DePue Men's Club supports many community events and the proceeds from boat races allow us to do that. Secondly- but not any less important- the annual boat races are a tradition for us. We welcome many of our family home! Ask any Depue native and you'll hear that the sounds, smells and time of year bring back big smiles and memories of years of gathering around the lake to watch it all happen.
Look what happens when a community pulls together!
It's no secret that teamwork saved the races! Follow these day by day video reports that show how we Raised the Lake, overcoming drought to keep the races we love!
National championship race boats of course!
